Kent Phelps

Kent Phelps

CEO, COFOUNDER, AND ATTORNEY

Arizona

As a second-generation estate planning attorney with over two decades of experience, Kent Phelps has seen how even the best intentions can have negative results. Without considering estate planning, family members can be left in confusion, turmoil, or worse, after a loved one passes.

That is why his focus is on creating comprehensive estate plans that fulfill the wishes of professionals, business owners, and retirees – enabling a transition that protects the remaining beneficiaries.

His vision is simple and powerful: provide every client with an exceptional legal planning experience. With a decade spent in the courtroom as a trial attorney, Kent understands how to help clients and their families protect against predatory lawsuits and stay out of court.

Kent has been admitted to the State Bar of Arizona. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University, and his J.D. from University of the Pacific. Additionally, he is a member of the Wealth Counsel and the Arizona State Bar Probate & Trust Section.

Kent is a Continuing Legal Education instructor on advanced estate planning topics. He has also received the American Jurisprudence Award, the Order of Barristers, and has his Silver Beaver Award through the Boy Scouts of America.

Kent is recognized in the media as an estate planning authority. He has been featured in ABC News, NBC News, FOX News and Bloomberg Law.

When Kent is not at the office or giving free estate planning seminars, he enjoys spending time with his wife, seven children and seven grandchildren. He loves the outdoors and is an avid wilderness backpacker.

Kent has backpacked to the bottom (and back out!) of the Grand Canyon 14 times.

Justin Wall

Justin Wall

ATTORNEY

aRIZONA

Justin Wall has deep experience in estate planning and probate. His previous work focused chiefly on probate. He learned firsthand that the best way to avoid family conflict in probate is to anticipate and plan around it. Before narrowing his practice to this field, Justin also advocated for the injured, the accused, and the disabled in proceedings before various civil and administrative courts.

Justin is an innovative thinker who relishes a good challenge. He enjoys delving into emerging legal issues and finding cutting-edge solutions, boiling them down into valuable strategies that are both helpful and straightforward for his clients.

He got his B.S. in Political Science from Utah Valley University and went to law school at J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University. He is admitted to the State Bar of Arizona.

Justin happily spends his free time with his wife Alex and their two rowdy boys. This means his latest hobbies include playing hide-and-seek, doing somersaults in the backyard, and running circles around the dining table. When the occasion permits, he enjoys board games, sports, and kayaking.

Darren Watts

Darren Watts

aTTORNEY

Utah

Darren Watts has been an attorney for over 17 years and has practiced in a wide variety of areas. He has since narrowed down his areas of practice to help individuals with their estate planning minimize conflict as the estate is administered as they want it done, without any unnecessary expenses or hassle to their beneficiaries.

Darren has practiced in family law, so he knows the necessity of harmony in planning and the discord that financial issues can cause, and he will help you avoid them. He has also practiced bankruptcy law and can help you make sure that poor decisions by your beneficiaries will not affect your estate. Darren also practiced in criminal law as both a prosecutor and defense attorney and will be able to steer you clear of any action in your planning that would endanger your estate due to criminal charges. Finally, he has also been involved in business and general litigation and can look for pitfalls that could bring predatory lawsuits against you or your estate.

He achieved his Bachelor’s of Music from Brigham Young University School of Music as well as his J.D. from Rueben Clark Law School at BYU.  He has been admitted to the Utah State Bar and the Wyoming State Bar.

Darren is a member of the Central Utah Bar Association, Utah Bar’s Estate Planning Section, and the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square.

In his free time, Darren sings in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and will take advantage of other performance opportunities in the community as they arise. He has performed the bass solos for Handel’s Messiah, Faure’s Requiem, and Schubert’s Mass in G among others.

He and his wife enjoy showing the country and its beauties to their four children. Darren also loves the game of golf, but that love is not often reciprocated.
